Tips for Best Results

  • Give the product adequate dwell time before scrubbing.
  • Heavier mineral buildup may require repeated applications.
  • Do not allow the product to dry on the surface before rinsing.
  • Rinse treated surfaces thoroughly with clean water.
  • Test specialty surfaces and finishes in an inconspicuous area first.
  • Follow manufacturer care instructions for appliances, fixtures, and specialty surfaces.
  • Use an appropriate non-abrasive cleaning tool when working with surfaces that can scratch.
  • Use Scale & Scum Remover by itself and rinse thoroughly before using another cleaning product.

Important Surface Notes

Scale & Scum Remover contains acids designed to break down mineral buildup.

Because surface materials and finishes vary, always check the manufacturer’s care instructions and test the product in an inconspicuous area before treating a larger surface.

Because Scale & Scum Remover contains acids, it may not be appropriate for certain natural stone surfaces. Always follow the stone manufacturer’s care recommendations and test in an inconspicuous area before use.

Use particular care with specialty metals, delicate finishes, and other acid-sensitive surfaces.

When in doubt, test first.

What does Scale & Scum Remover remove?

It is designed to help tackle:

  • Soap scum
  • Hard-water deposits
  • Mineral buildup
  • Scale
  • Calcium deposits
  • Stains associated with mineral buildup

What causes hard-water buildup?

Hard water contains dissolved minerals that can remain behind on surfaces as water evaporates.

Over time, these deposits can create visible spots, scale, and stubborn buildup around showers, sinks, faucets, toilets, and other water fixtures.

Can I use it on glass shower doors?

It can be used to help remove hard-water deposits and soap scum from compatible glass shower doors.

Always test first, follow the manufacturer’s care recommendations, and rinse thoroughly after cleaning.

Can I use it on natural stone?

Because Scale & Scum Remover contains acids, it may not be appropriate for certain natural stone surfaces.

Follow the stone manufacturer’s care recommendations and test in an inconspicuous area before use.

Do I need to scrub immediately?

No.

Allowing the product adequate dwell time gives it an opportunity to work on the mineral buildup before you scrub.

For soap scum, allow approximately 2–5 minutes.

For heavier hard-water deposits, allow up to approximately 10 minutes before scrubbing and rinsing.

Can I dilute it?

Yes.

The concentrated formula may be used full strength or diluted up to 1:25, depending on the application, surface, and severity of the buildup.

Can I use it with other cleaners?

For best results, use Scale & Scum Remover by itself.

Rinse the treated surface thoroughly with clean water before applying another cleaning product.

How often should I use it?

Use as needed based on the amount of mineral and soap-scum buildup in your space.

Routine cleaning can help prevent deposits from becoming more difficult to remove.
